Abstract
The deliberate reduction of arterial blood pressure in a controlled fashion during major operative procedures to shorten operation time, decrease blood loss, decrease the amount of blood transfusion and, produce a relatively "dry" operative field has been found to be safe and effective in plastic, neurological, otologic, ocular, orthopedic surgery.

We experienced 10 major craniomaxillofacial surgery under the deliberate hypotensive anesthesia with sodum nitroprusside and halothane, which facilitated operative procedure by reducing intraoperative blood loss, the amount of transfusion, the operation time.

No complication attributable to this anesthetic technique occurred.

We think a deliberate hypotensive anesthesia very beneficial in selected craniomaxillofacial surgery.
